The Global Institute for Development Evidence (GIDE), formerly the African Biodiversity Institute, was established in 1990 in Nairobi, Kenya, and headquartered in Honolulu, Hawaii, USA, as a global policy initiative that helps policymakers base decisions on research-based evidence.  Our services include systematic reviews in social and economic development, agriculture, and environment and natural resources; project performance evaluation; and capacity building in related areas.  GIDE recently launched the “Advisory & Consultancy Services (ACS)” as a major activity to provide on-demand consultancy and advisory services to its clients, including bilateral and international agents in the areas above.  To this end, we are looking for five qualified and experienced Senior Consultants each for 1-2 years’ assignments in Africa and Asia for each of the following areas of impact evaluation and systematic reviews as well as capacity building in its core areas:

1. AI-Assisted Website Designer (Redesign for GIDE Website)

Position Summary: We seek a highly skilled AI-assisted Website Designer to lead the complete redesign of the GIDE website. The ideal candidate will integrate marketing, subscription services, payment processing, and enhanced user interactivity. This role demands an innovative professional with experience in AI-assisted design tools, strong UX/UI expertise, and the ability to create a visually appealing and functional website tailored for an international audience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the end-to-end design and development of the GIDE website, incorporating AI tools to enhance user experience.

  • Develop a visually compelling, responsive, user-friendly website design that effectively promotes services, captures leads, and facilitates payment and subscription processes.

  • Collaborate with the marketing team to ensure website content aligns with branding and messaging.

  • Design and implement data-driven user journeys and call-to-action paths for maximum engagement and conversion.

  • Ensure SEO optimization and integration with analytical tools to monitor website performance.

  • Implement security protocols to protect user data and payment information.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Web Design, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • Proven experience in website design and development, especially with AI-assisted tools.

  • Proficiency in web design tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe XD) and coding languages (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).

  • Experience with e-commerce integration, subscription models, and payment gateway design.

  • Strong UX/UI design skills and portfolio of past work showcasing innovative web designs.

  • Knowledge of SEO, analytics, and security best practices.

2. Software Engineer (Automated Tools for Outcome Measurement)

Position Summary: We are looking for a Software Engineer to design and develop cutting-edge, user-friendly mobile and desktop tools for measuring the outcomes of projects, programs, policies, and strategies. This role involves creating automated systems that enhance the efficiency and accuracy of outcome measurement for clients worldwide.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and test mobile and desktop applications that enable seamless outcome measurement across multiple project types.

  • Create tools with user-friendly interfaces and intuitive functionalities, allowing for accurate and easy data collection and analysis.

  • Integrate AI-driven analytics capabilities to enhance insights and facilitate real-time data reporting.

  • Ensure tools are adaptable to diverse international contexts and compatible with varying data privacy standards.

  • Collaborate with project management and M&E teams to ensure tools meet clients' specific outcome measurement needs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

  • Strong programming skills in relevant languages (Python, Java, Swift) and experience in mobile and desktop application development.

  • Familiarity with AI and machine learning algorithms used in analytics and reporting.

  • Proven experience designing tools for outcome measurement, data collection, and analysis.

  • Strong understanding of data privacy and international compliance requirements.

  • Ability to work collaboratively and translate user feedback into functional enhancements.

3. Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Transformation Specialist – Photography & Videography

Position Summary: We seek an M&E Transformation Specialist with expertise in photography and videography to capture and analyze qualitative and quantitative data for project evaluation and impact assessment. This role requires innovation in transforming traditional M&E approaches, using visual storytelling and data techniques to enhance the depth and relatability of data collected across projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement frameworks for photography and videography as dual methods for capturing qualitative and quantitative data in project M&E.

  • Use visual data, complemented by quantitative metrics, to build a robust mixed-methods approach to impact assessment.

  • Design standardized visual and numerical data collection protocols, ensuring reliability and consistency across diverse project settings.

  • Develop and conduct training sessions for project teams and local stakeholders on collecting visual narratives and quantitative data using tools like cameras, smartphones, and videography equipment.

  • Manage integrating qualitative visual data and quantitative metrics to produce comprehensive, impactful reports that convey project outcomes through storytelling and data analysis.

  • Ensure adherence to ethical standards and cultural sensitivity in visual data collection, especially in diverse and international contexts.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in M&E, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.

  • Proven experience in M&E with expertise in qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis, particularly using visual storytelling.

  • Technical proficiency in photography, videography, and editing software, along with experience in data analysis tools.

  • Ability to create training materials and conduct workshops on integrating visual and numerical data collection.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and cultural awareness to navigate diverse field settings and ensure respectful, ethical engagement.
