Rob Olson
Robin Olson is the author and senior research analyst for International Risk Management Institute’s (IRMI’s) Personal Risk Management and Insurance, a 3,100-page reference manual. Mr. Olson earned a BA degree, cum laude, in economics and an MLA degree with a concentration in philosophy, both from Southern Methodist University (SMU) in Dallas. He is a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and holds five other risk management designations. He has been recognized twice by The Institutes for his outstanding scholarly achievements in its programs. Mr. Olson is also an active member of the CPCU Society, having held a number of offices, including president of the Dallas Chapter. He is currently the Interest Group Governor at the CPCU Society.
A frequent outside lecturer, he has spoken before numerous risk management groups in the United States and Asia. In addition, Mr. Olson serves as an adjunct lecturer at SMU where he teaches risk management classes. Before joining IRMI, Mr. Olson was an underwriting manager and officer for two national insurance companies. As an avocation, Mr. Olson is active in philosophy circles, recently completing a four-year term as president of the Dallas Philosopher’s Forum. In addition, he is involved in community service, teaching life skills classes to inmates and jailers at the Dallas County Jail.
